using calculators

Roxboro Community School (RCS) this week received a LP Community Grant from the Roxboro Louisiana Pacific mill. The $4,796 grant will be used to purchase graphing calculators for classroom use by students who may not be able to purchase a personal calculator.

Chari Denny, chair of the RCS Math Department, said she and her department were grateful for "the generous donation that will allow us to purchase more graphing calculators for our middle school and high school math department. As we push our students toward more complex problem solving, access to advanced calculators becomes crucial," she continued.

"We  don't want anyone to be unable to reach their full potential because of financial limitations," Denny said, "and this gift allows us to provide the tools our students need to be successful in the world of math and science."
