Hello Seniors & Senior Parents,
Friday is almost here. Please be parked in your assigned spot in the Woody lot no later than 5 p.m. The Graduation Committee will be handing out items prior to the parade. You will need to be dressed in your cap and gown in order to walk and receive your diploma.
At this time we are moving forward with the original graduation day plan. We have a rain plan, but will only use it in a worst case scenario. It will be forwarded Friday if need be. As a reminder, only the graduate should exit the vehicle to walk. Staff will be on hand to direct traffic. The event will be recorded via Facebook Live as well as by Mr. Whittemore as a backup. Mr. Kelly Snow will also be taking graduate photos.
The parade will start promptly at 5:30 p.m. The route has been distributed, and will conclude at Yesterday’s Interiors for spectators. We ask that families not block the photos of the graduates in the store front. Graduates will be led by Deputy Chapman back to RCS. You will receive a virtual ticket in your “Grad Bag,” and the graduation virtual ceremony will also be released on the graduation page on the RCS website. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you all!
GRADUATION PARADE ROUTE
RCS is continuing to finalize plans for graduation. Administration met with representatives from the Person County Sheriff’s Department and Roxboro Police Department to identify the best route to minimize congestion while also providing the best opportunity for students to enjoy the experience. Listed below are the route directions:
When students return to RCS to receive their diplomas, they will be received by staff and administration. Please follow the directions of RCS personnel. When students reach the front door stairs, they will be directed to exit their vehicles (if they choose) and receive their diploma from administration, with their name announced. All other passengers must stay in the car. Students will walk across the front stoop, receive their diploma, and continue across the stoop to be picked up on the other side. There will be a photographer taking a picture of the graduates receiving their diplomas. The event will also be recorded “Live” via the RCS Facebook page, so it can be viewed live, and later. The photographer and videographer will be placed to best “shoot,” so drivers, please stay vigilant. RCS asks, via direction from law enforcement, that families turn right onto Depot St. when exiting to relieve potential traffic congestion.
The virtual ceremony is scheduled for release at 7:30 p.m. The event is recorded, and can be watched at any time.
PARADE PARKING INSTRUCTIONS
RCS Seniors and Parents,
In preparation for this Friday's activities, you will need to familiarize yourself with where you will park on May 29. Between now and then, feel free to drive through the student parking lot to locate your space.
Please click here for your graduation parking space. You will have to back your car into the space, and remain in your vehicles. Parents, please make sure your graduate's vehicle is in place by 5 p.m., so we can begin the parade promptly at 5:30 p.m. RCS will send out last minute details by Thursday, May 28 in preparation for Friday, May 29.
Remember, one car per graduate. No trailers. No other cars will be allowed in the parking lot. Only RCS staff will be in the front parking lot as graduates come in to receive their diplomas.
Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you.
SENIOR SPIRIT WEEK MAY 26 – 29.
Tuesday - Tricia’s Tasty Tuesday Treat!! Sponsored by C/O 2020 parents. Stop by Tricia’s Espresso on Tuesday, May 26, from 7 a.m. until 2 p.m., to get a drink or pastry of your choice.
Wednesday – “Guess the Graduate.” RCS will send senior baby pictures that have been submitted for our senior class to guess identities. Please check your email for a request to submit (Google form), and consider submitting a photo. The more photos that are submitted, the greater the challenge and fun.
Thursday - #hatsoffto2020. Seniors will be provided a Senior Cap Template (not your RCS graduation cap). You can (appropriately) decorate your cap template to show off your creativity and individuality. Here are the directions for submissions. The decorated cap templates will be compiled into a collage that will be displayed at school during the 2020-2021 school year in a place designated by administration. All submissions will also be entered into a drawing for a prize. If you can not print, staff will deliver a template when dropping off your yard sign.
