Darkarai Bryant

On March 14, the Roxboro Community School (RCS) Board of Directors named Darkarai Bryant as the next Managing Executive Director, (MED) effective July 1.

Bryant has served as high school principal at RCS since 2014. Prior to joining RCS, Bryant served as a teacher and administrator in Person County Schools. He earned an undergraduate degree in mathematics, with a concentration in statistics, from the University of North Carolina at Asheville. He holds a master’s degree in school administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and teaching certification from Elon University.

Bryant said he was “excited about continuing to serve the RCS community in this new role.” He continued, “I am saddened that I will longer be working in leadership with upcoming retirees Dave Ebert and Donna Ingram, but am happy for them as they embark on a new phase in their lives.” Bryant said both current MED Ebert and middle school principal Ingram are leaving “RCS in a good place, with a strong staff and strong community support.”

He said, “I look forward to continuing to prepare our students for success now and in their lives after RCS.”

Current Managing Executive Director Ebert said, “I'm so excited that Darkarai Bryant has been named our new MED. He is an experienced administrator who loves RCS. Darkarai knows and understands the culture here. He knows the students and staff, which will make the transition to a new MED much easier. I am looking forward to working through the transition with Darkarai and I know RCS will be in great hands.”

Bryant said he was grateful to his wife, Erica, and children, Xavier and Leah, for their support throughout his career and in his decision to pursue this new role.

He began his career in education in 1998, as a lateral entry math teacher in Person County Schools. He went on to serve as assistant principal at Northern Middle School, Southern Middle School and Person High School and as principal of Helena Elementary, North End Elementary, and Northern Middle schools.

Bryant said he expects a “smooth transition” this summer.
