A group of Roxboro Community School (RCS) students attended the Youth Legislative Assembly (YLA) session in Raleigh last weekend. YLA is a mock legislative session where high school students voice their opinions and vote on issues concerning local, state and national government. RCS had seven students participate in this year's YLA event.

Attending were Rachel Sukkar, Alexandra Winstead, Lauren Talley, Caroline Puryear, McIver Long, Nate Stovall, and Alex Heindselman.

RCS high school principal Darkarai Byrant said, “All of our students represented RCS well. Alexandra was a member of the leadership team, holding the position of Agriculture Committee Clerk, and Rachel received an award for the outstanding job she did in her General Government committee meetings.”
