Roxboro Community School (RCS) is pleased to announce that Mr. Jamel Jones will be the middle school principal beginning July1, following the retirement of current principal Donna Ingram. 

Jones was born in New York and grew up in a small town in Wayne County, NC. After earning an undergraduate degree in psychology from North Carolina Wesleyan University, he taught special education and co-taught math at his alma mater, Charles B. Aycock High School. Jones earned a master’s degree in education and instruction from Central Michigan University and a master’s in school administration from Gardner-Webb University. 

He has worked in school administration for over 10 years in different capacities, including his current position as an assistant principal at Person High School. He has also served as a principal, and as education consultant for the North Carolina Department of Corrections. 

Jones said, "I am excited to join Roxboro Community School, serving as the middle school principal and working with a dynamic staff, students, and parents to build genuine relationships."

RCS Managing Executive Director Dave Ebert said, “We are looking forward to Jamel Jones joining the RCS staff as our new middle school principal. Jamel brings years of experience to the administrative team and will be a great addition to the RCS family. I am excited that Jamel will be our new middle school principal.”

Jones said, outside of the school day, he enjoys traveling, spending time with his children and grandchildren, and working with youth groups.
