What are RCS Students learning this week

Check out what some of our students were learning this past week!


Mr. Butner’s 8th grade social studies students were using a collaborative research tool called "Cyber Sandwich" to explore the early interactions of English explorers and settlers with native cultures in North Carolina, specifically the tribe which lived on Roanoke Island. This serves to preface their "CSI: Lost Colony" activity next Monday and Tuesday.

Mrs. Devillier's 6th grade math boost students reviewed multiplying decimals they were using the website prodigy that is a fun game that allows them to battle each other by solving math problems.

In part of their horror/suspense unit, Mrs. Griffin's 7th grade ELA class read 7th graders read the play version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow then showed their inferencing skills on a quick comprehension check.  The best of part of reading the drama was when students "howled" like a wolf!

Mr. McGraw’s pre-calculus class started a new unit on functions this week, and on Wednesday they were learning about function notation, evaluating functions, and expressing equations as functions.
