Here are this week's student spotlights!

Middle School

Elijah Blalock

This week’s middle school spotlight is eighth grader, Elijah Blalock. The eighth-grade team nominated him for his constant participation, kindness towards others, and his willingness to think on a deeper level. Blalock said his favorite subject was math this year. “Elijah has excellent manners, and is kind and thoughtful” eighth grade ELA teacher, Beth Stultz said.  “He is diligent and always does his best. He is a very good student and friend to his classmates.”

Blalock has attended RCS since the 6th grade. He was happy to be chosen as this week’s spotlight!

When asked what he liked about RCS, he said “how much care the teachers put into the school.” He said Math is favorite subject and he is looking forward to taking Math II next year! Kara Robert, eighth grade academic success teacher said “Eli is a great student academically. He is also charismatic and brings humor to any situation.”

High School

Emma Pryor

This week's high school student spotlight is Emma Pryor. She was nominated by Biotech teacher, Jill Clayton. While Clayton was out, Pryor helped coordinate a blood drive for HOSA. Clayton said she did not have to worry about anything because she knew Pryor would take care of everything and she did. “Emma worked diligently to seek out blood donors and get them registered for the blood drive,” Clayton said. “On the day of the drive, she worked throughout the day to check in blood donors as they arrived for their scheduled appointment time.”

Aside from her work in HOSA, Pryor is a great all-around student. Spanish teacher Leslie Dobkin said “Emma is pleasant and helpful in class, not only with me, but also with her classmates. She has a positive attitude and treats everyone with respect and consideration.”

Emma said she was glad her teachers had such kind things to say about her. She shared that she loves the community that RCS has. “The teachers are able to be one-on-one with you and they are able to sit down and help you, even if you aren’t in their class.
