Zane Lappin

Roxboro Community School (RCS) is proud of the newest Roxboro's Distinguished Young Woman, Zane Lappin. The senior was awarded the title Saturday, September 24, along with preliminary awards in Fitness, Self-Expression, Talent, Judges' Interview, Scholastic Achievement, and the Leadership Award. Zane earned scholarships totaling $4,750. 

Seven of the 15 girls participating this year were RCS students. In addition to Zane, they were Allyshea Oliver, Grace Pryor, Athena Dontas, Alexandra Winstead, Tori Bailey, and Kalyn Cole.

Athena was named 4th runner-up, and earned the Be Your Best Self Award, and Overall Judges' Interview Award.

Allyshea received preliminary awards in Fitness, Talent, and Scholastic Achievement.

Grace received preliminary awards in Self Expression, Judges' Interview, and Scholastic Achievement.

Tori earned the Sarah Elizabeth Morton Spirit Award and Fitness Preliminary Award.

Alexandra was the Overall Scholastic Achievement winner. 

Each of these young ladies earned scholarships for their work in the DYW program. 

For the past nine years, a RCS student has earned the title of Distinguished Young Woman for Roxboro. Past winners include: Andelyn Briggs, Katie Waldo, Alexis Vernon, Eryka Vanek, Elena Meiggs, Katie Mooney, Alycia Parker and Havan Harris.
