6th Grade Spanish Immersion at RCS Beginning Fall 2023, RCS will offer a middle school Spanish immersion course, which will be available to upcoming 6th graders who participated in elementary immersion learning OR who speak Spanish at home. This program will be expanded over the following years so that we can continue to serve these students throughout their middle school and high school careers. El programa se expandirá a través de los próximos años para que RCS pueda acomodar a estos estudiantes durante sus carreras del middle school y high school.

High school girls' soccer winter workouts will continue every Tuesday and Thursday at Huck Sansbury from 3:45 until 4:45 pm. Please bring tennis shoes and water. Middle school girls' indoor soccer will continue on Saturdays from 8 until 10 am at the RCS gym. Please bring tennis shoes, shin guards, and water. High school girls' indoor soccer will continue on Saturdays from 10 am until 12 noon at the RCS gym. Please bring tennis shoes, shin guards, and water. HOSA will host a Blood Drive on March 8, from 8:30 am to 1 pm in the multipurpose room. A high school and middle lacrosse interest meeting will be held in the athletic lounge on Wednesday, January 18 at 6:30 pm.

The RCS Band Variety Show is looking for talent. Do you dance, sing, act, do comedy, etc.? The RCS Variety Show will be Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25 at 7 pm in the RCS multipurpose room. Auditions for the Variety Show will be Monday, January 23, 3:30-5:30 pm and Tuesday, January 24, 3:30-4:30 pm in the RCS band room. If these audition times do not work, please reach out to Mrs. Smith at smithv@roxboxocommunityschool.org. Auditions are in five minute slots. The High School Journalism Club will meet on Wednesday, January 11, at 3 pm in room 220.

We love having our middle school guidance counselor, Ms. Horton, in our classrooms. Today, she is hanging out with 8th grade Academic Success classes to help us highlight our character trait of the month, compassion.

High school baseball workouts will begin Monday, January 9, at 4 pm at Optimist Park. Baseball workouts will be every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 4 to 5:30. Any changes needed due to weather conditions will be communicated separately as necessary. Any high school student interested in baseball should attend.

Strawbridge Winter Sport (basketball and cheer) team and individual (optional) pictures will be taken Friday, January 20, beginning at 9:30 a.m., in the RCS gym. This includes both middle and high school. Student-athletes should wear game uniforms and game shoes for the photos. Picture forms will be located in the main or coaches' offices. Miss Debbies Specialty Apples are for sale to help raise money for the band and art department at RCS. These apples are sold at the North Carolina State Fair each year. Reach out to a 7th-12th grade band student or a high school art or art club student to purchase apples. All of the apples are $10 each and orders and money will be collected through Thursday, January 5. We make 40% profit on this fundraiser, which will go toward the purchase of supplies and/or instruments. Apples will be delivered around January 18. Thanks for your support!
