There will be a special PTSO Bulldog Gear Sale in the Woody Parking Lot, behind RCS, TOMORROW, Friday, December 18, from 2 to 4 p.m. You can get your Bulldog Cards, Bulldog Chapsticks and other great gear for gifts or stocking stuffers! PARENTS MAY ALSO PICK UP THE 1/4 ZIP PULLOVERS SPECIAL ORDERS.

Bulldog Cards are in and will be available at the PTSO Bulldog Gear Sale on Friday, December 18, from 2 to 4 pm in the Woody Parking Lot. Cards are $10 and are vaild until December 31, 2021. They make great stocking stuffers! Lots of other great gear will be available as well.

Last night the RCS Board of Directors approved the proposal submitted by RCS Administration to wait until Monday, January 11 to return to face-to-face/hybrid instruction. Students will return to classes on January 5, but instruction will be remote only from January 5 to January 8. Students are expected to log in on a daily basis to participate in instruction and complete all assignments. This adjustment to our reopening after the holiday break will give us an additional week before students return face-to-face. This should help prevent the potential spread of the Covid-19 virus. January 4 will remain an optional teacher workday.

Mrs. Russ has given credit to every student account that had pre-ordered for December 10-15. No food was to be served between December 15 and January 5.

Google is experiencing problems this morning. This is impacting Gmail and a plethora of other Google products including YouTube. The status of the different products can be seen at https://www.google.com/appsstatus#hl=en&v=status. NCEdCloud and Canvas are currently still working as expected. It looks like some of the products are starting to work again, but please be aware that there are issues this morning.

Due to RCS transitioning to Plan C (All Remote Instruction) for the remainder of the first semester, all exams will now be given remotely. All students should follow the original exam schedule. Your teacher may send out additional clarifying details. If you have any questions please contact your teacher first. If you have additional questions, contact Mr. Bryant. Thank you.

High School Basketball Tryouts will be Monday, December 7 in the RCS gym. Men’s Basketball will take place from 3:30 to 5 p.m. and Women’s Basketball 5 to 6:30 p.m. A valid physical is required. All coaches and players must wear face coverings during tryouts and practices per NCHSAA policy.

Are you a current Junior or Senior and interested in adding a Piedmont Community College class or classes for the second semester? Are you a current 10th grader looking to join the program next school year? Join our virtual interest meeting on Thursday, December 10, from 6 to 7 p.m. to learn more! Parents are welcome! A Zoom link will be sent at a later date. Mrs. Rollins is over the Career and College Promise program, which provides eligible high school students the opportunity to take free college classes at PCC. RCS Seniors, a representative from Herff Jones will be in the front parking lot, near the front door, on Wednesday, December 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a truck carrying all items listed in the attached flyer. Cash or credit card will be accepted. You may also pick up a special gift that day. Remember to order caps and gowns if you haven’t already done so. And, if you plan to participate in senior activities, please pay the $50 fee by February 1. Money can be turned in to Ms. Pleasant or Mrs. Jill Clayton. An additional $50 is due by April 1 for the Senior Trip.

‘Tis the season and time to Deck the Halls at RCS! From Monday, November 30 through Friday, December 4, the PTSO is sponsoring an ornament collection event for the entire school! Celebrating this holiday is going to be a bit different for our students/faculty/staff and we’d like to spread some Christmas Cheer throughout our school! PTSO is inviting the RCS family to join us in decorating our Christmas trees this year! If you’d like to participate, simply bring an ornament to help trim our trees. We’d love for that ornament to be something that represents a hobby, a favorite Christmas tradition or the school. Trees will be located in the school lobby, in front of the school library and in front of the gym. Anyone donating an ornament can bring it to Ms. Graham at the front desk and we will ensure its spot on the school trees! Pictures of the decorated trees will be posted on the PTSO Facebook page as well as shared by the school social media outlets! RCS is holding a contest for students who submit a picture or a video of themselves for inclusion in the Yearbook. Selfies, photos a friend or family member has taken -- anything appropriate will be considered. Videos will be linked in the Yearbook via QR code. In this crazy time of COVID, it is difficult for the yearbook staff to get photos showing students' faces. This contest is a way of making sure everyone is represented in their yearbook! To enter the contest, submit at least one photo or one video to the rcs.journalism Instagram account. If you don't have Instagram, submit to boatwrightpa@roxborocs.org. There will be three prizes: a $50 gift card to Walmart, a $25 gift card to La Cocina, and a $10 gift card to Tricias. Submit your photos and videos before January 15, 2021 to ensure your place in the contest!
