A group of high school students toured NC State University and another group Toured UNC-Chapel Hill yesterday. The group at NC State was even joined by RCS Alumni and current NC State students, Jackson Powley and Cam Chaulk, on their tour! Both groups enjoyed their time visiting the campuses and learning more about what these universities have to offer! We look forward to providing opportunities for students to visit more NC campuses in the future.

Here are the student spotlights for this week! Our middle school spotlight is Cierra Sasser! Cierra was chosen because she a great student with an excellent work ethic. She is also always kind and respectful to her peers. Our high school spotlight is Sandra Bojoy-Salvador! Sandra was chosen because she is an incredible artist. She is constantly blowing everyone away with what she creates. Sandra chose to share a piece of her art instead of a picture of herself. Click below to read more about these students and to see Sandra's art piece even better! https://www.roxborocs.org/article/1435198

We want to give a warm welcome to our new High School English teacher, Whitney Anderson! She officially joined us this week! Anderson is originally from Cary, NC! She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and her Master’s Degree in Reading Education and Intervention from Appalachian State University. She is also a National Board-Certified teacher. She has been teaching for 17 years, 11 of which were in Wake County. She has a daughter in sixth grade at RCS and a son in third grade. She loves to cruise, travel, and host family get-togethers. “I chose RCS because it has the true family feel and focuses on robust instruction for all students,” Anderson said. “I am super excited to begin my journey at RCS and look forward to working with the families in our community.”

Our student spotlights are BACK! To start off the new year, we are doing something a little different this week. Instead of a middle school and a high school spotlight, we have a group of eighth grade students we want to highlight this week! Meredith Cates, Macee Bowes, Ella Horner, Leah Griffin, and Lyndley Gentry are exemplary students in and out of the classroom. They all take honors classes and even some high school courses. Outside the classroom, they have shown kindness to others around them. Most of these girls have been friends since the sixth grade and this year they chose to befriend a fellow student, welcoming her into their group. Read more about these students and what their teachers had to say! https://www.roxborocs.org/article/1421378

Should my high school student take CP, Honors or AP classes? How should my student best prepare to have the opportunity to take PPC classes? What electives are available for my student? How will the 7-period day affect my/my high schooler's schedule? These questions and more will be answered in a few weeks at the RCS Curriculum Night. Rising ninth graders are highly encouraged to attend, but rising 10th -12th graders are welcome as well. This is also a great opportunity to meet the high school staff. Please join us for this pre-registration event Thursday, February 8 at 6:00 p.m. in the RCS multipurpose room.
