
Lori Wilson, also known as The Tooth Fairy in Disguise, visited Mrs. Jill Clayton’s classes today. Mrs. Wilson is a dental assistant and children’s author who encourages young people to follow their dreams and believe in themselves. We were #bulldogproud to have her visit!

Today, the Class of 2023 received their senior shirt, took their class picture, and were treated to Chick-fil-A lunch provided by Tommy and Amy Winstead of Winstead Realty Group.

Variety Show Auditions start Monday, January 23!


RCS Class of 2023, Monday, January 23 will be your next Senior Activity.
Seniors have a FREE JEANS DAY. Must wear Senior Shirt that you have already received.
Report to the gym at 11:30 for CLASS PICTURE. Seniors will receive another Senior shirt at this time to take the class picture in.
Chic-fil-A lunch will be provided in MPR after the class picture is complete.


Mrs. King, library volunteer, gives Mrs. Roberts' Academic Success students a tour of the reorganized library and explains the different genres of books available.


Due to the continued rain and wet conditions, girls' high school soccer winter workouts are cancelled today.


There will be a mandatory meeting of High School Student Council on Wednesday, January 18, during lunch, in Mrs. Haga's room. If unable to attend, please contact Mrs. Haga.


Any boys who plan to play high school golf this spring should see Coach Justin Jones. Practice will begin February 13, weather permitting. Athletes will need to have a physical and complete everything on Dragonfly. Contact Coach Jones with questions at jonesjd@roxborocs.org.


The Middle School MathCounts Club will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, January 18, from 3 to 3:45 in room 125.


Middle school baseball workouts are cancelled for today, Tuesday, January 17.


Friday, January 20 will be a Jeans Day. The $2 donation will go toward Battle of the Books.

In the arts this week, RCS students are learning swing dance, and there is even a brother-sister duo!
Middle school theater students are working on Greek theater and making their masks for their Greek Mythology scenes.

RCS will be closed Monday, January 16 in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Classes will resume on Tuesday, January 17.


Seventh grader, Gavin Walker won the Roxboro Community School (RCS) spelling bee on Jan. 12, with his championship word, “acrid.” Sixth grader Morgan Rogers was runner up. Gavin will go on to compete in the district level bee via Zoom. #bulldogproud



6th Grade Spanish Immersion at RCS
Beginning Fall 2023, RCS will offer a middle school Spanish immersion course, which will be available to upcoming 6th graders who participated in elementary immersion learning OR who speak Spanish at home. This program will be expanded over the following years so that we can continue to serve these students throughout their middle school and high school careers.

En el otoño de 2023, RCS ofrecerá un programa de inmersión para los estudiantes del middle school, el cual será disponible para todos los estudiantes que entran en el grado 6 que hayan participado en los cursos de inmersión española durante la escuela primaria o los que hablen español en casa. El programa se expandirá a través de los próximos años para que RCS pueda acomodar a estos estudiantes durante sus carreras del middle school y high school.
